Keeping your noise monitoring equipment in good working order is essential for accurate results. To assist, Noise and Weather Monitoring Ltd offers expert installation, calibration, servicing and maintenance for your permanent noise monitoring equipment. Our
years of experience with noise monitoring systems, combined with our use of high-quality Norsonic parts and components, ensure that you get accurate and detailed results for the entire length of your project, however long that may be.
One of our oldest remote sites has been operating in the same paddock for nearly two decades, and the field calibration has never been off by more than 0.1dB. On a recent visit, we found it had been continuously collecting data every second for over 15,000 hours since its last reboot - proof of the unrivalled reliability of our outdoor environmental noise monitors in the harsh New Zealand conditions.

Robust installations for stable equipment

Whether your
outdoor noise monitor is being installed temporarily or permanently, we ensure that it is installed in a stable way that will remain in place.
A solid foundation is crucial for accurate monitoring, especially in permanent noise monitoring installations so we ensure robust concrete foundations. We also use tethering systems that stabilise your equipment including making sure that all cables are secure to reduce noise interference.
During the installation we also adjust solar panels and battery configurations to suit your specific equipment, ensuring that everything runs smoothly.

Precision calibration for exceptional accuracy

To maintain the highest standards of accuracy, we conduct field calibrations and biannual laboratory calibrations. This rigorous calibration process ensures that our equipment meets both New Zealand and international standards, providing you with confidence in noise measurements.
In-the-field calibration is carried out for noise meters each time we visit your site, whether for installation, relocation, removal, or servicing and maintenance. Our field calibration device is sent to the laboratory every year to verify its accuracy.
Laboratory calibration is conducted every two years, when the noise meter and microphone are sent to a certified lab to be put through a series of standard tests. These tests confirm the equipment continues to meet Class 1 accuracy standards.
We provide certification for each calibration to ensure traceability and conformance.
While your equipment is away, we can provide a temporary replacement to keep your noise monitoring uninterrupted.

Expert maintenance and servicing for noise monitoring equipment

We provide prompt fault-finding and repair services to minimise downtime for your monitoring. We carry a stock of spare parts so we can carry out immediate repairs on-site whenever possible. If a part needs replacing, we can order it swiftly and return to complete the repair. We proactively monitor all our equipment in the field so we can respond to issues quickly. For example, if we notice a device is offline, we can alert you and then investigate.
Regular maintenance is key to ensuring your noise monitoring equipment remains in top condition. So alongside reactive repairs, we schedule an annual maintenance check which includes:
  • field calibration
  • replacing wind screens on microphones
  • checking battery health
  • cleaning solar panels
  • inspecting cables for UV or mechanical damage
  • cleaning weather stations and rain gauges
  • checking for rust or blockages from debris, birds or insects
  • checking the area such as fencing to ensure the equipment is protected from livestock or other issues

Support and training

Once your environmental noise monitoring system is set up, we'll go through how to use our secure client portal to access your data, and how to create reports and interpret the results. Our team is always on hand to provide ongoing support, ensuring you can make the most of your noise monitoring equipment.
