Why is environment noise monitoring important?

Environmental noise monitoring allows you to measure and analyse noise levels in specific areas such as around the boundary of your site or high-traffic areas. It helps landowners, businesses and organisations to determine issues such as:
  • Whether noise from areas like construction sites, industrial sites or transport hubs is too loud for local communities.
  • Whether the noise levels on site are safe for workers.
  • Whether noise emitted from a site complies with regulatory standards.
  • Whether complaints from neighbours are valid and need to be remedied.
Having up-to-date and accurate data on noise levels allows you to quickly diagnose and deal with any issues.

Advanced equipment ensures accurate and detailed results

There is little point in monitoring sound levels if the equipment you use produces results that are too generic or inaccurate. At Noise and Weather Monitoring Ltd, we use world-class Norsonic equipment to give you superior results and ensure compliance with New Zealand standards.
The benefits of our outdoor noise monitors which use the Norsonic Nor145 class 1 sound level meter, and the Norsonic Nor1216 heated outdoor microphone include:
Constant measurement
The Noise monitoring station measures decibel levels in real time, logging the precise level ten times per second. This log can include for example: LAeq, LAmax, LAmin, LA10, LA50, LA90, LA95, 1/3 octaves, wind direction, wind velocity, temperature, rainfall. Also, event based audio and images can also be captured.
Precise measurements & categorisation
Separate noise from your operations or site from environmental noise such as wind to ensure accurate records. With the addition of noise compass you can get even more accurate directional data with sources being automatically categorised.
Self contained power
Noise monitoring stations can be self powered with a battery or solar panel. This means you are not reliant on mains power. The equipment also includes its own internal 4G modem to send data to storage. We recommend regular servicing to ensure the battery or solar panels and modem are in good working order.
Easy remote monitoring wherever you want your data
All data is logged in NorCloud and can be accessed by a convenient web portal on your computer, tablet or smartphone with a range of reporting options. You can also set up alarms and triggers with notifications sent via email or text message.
