Although Noise and Weather Monitoring Ltd was established in 2023, we draw from a rich legacy of expertise and high-quality products.
Noise and Weather Monitoring Ltd has its roots in Manawatu, where it began as Jepsen Acoustics and Electronics, specialising in electronics repair and noise measurement for local businesses. In the 1980s the company pioneered telemetry (remote data collection), initially monitoring river levels before expanding into remote noise monitoring.
Today Noise and Weather Monitoring Ltd remains headquartered in the Manawatu, based in Palmerston North, but we install and maintain data collection systems across New Zealand, from Auckland to Invercargill. We are proud to be the exclusive New Zealand distributor of industry-leading Norsonic acoustic equipment, a top quality European company with over 50 years of experience and innovation. This partnership allows us to continue our commitment to excellence in environmental noise monitoring as well as the supply, support and maintenance of building and laboratory acoustic equipment.

As the director of Noise and Weather Monitoring Ltd, Tony Bell is based in Palmerston North, where he lives with his wife and two young children. Tony studied engineering at Massey University and has a background in factory automation and product development. Since early 2023, Tony has been working alongside Neil Jepsen to ensure the New Zealand acoustics industry continues to receive expert service. He is honoured by the trust Neil has placed in him to continue his legacy of providing high-quality service to the acoustics community. This collaboration has allowed Neil to transition into a consultation role as he moves toward semi-retirement. Outside of work Tony enjoys exploring New Zealand's incredible national parks and native wildlife - when time allows!
Neil Jepsen was at the forefront of the company's growth, starting from his garage in true Kiwi tradition. A respected figure in the New Zealand acoustics industry since the 1980s. As a long-standing member of the NZ Acoustics Society, he has contributed decades of expertise to the field and served on the society's committee. Since 1997, he has also been the trusted importer of Norsonic equipment in New Zealand. While his work has primarily been in the Manawatu and Hawkes Bay, Neil is widely recognised nationwide for his knowledge and contributions to the field. Moving forward, Neil remains in a consulting role, offering his expertise and experience in supporting the industry.
